Ogbogwu Market Traders Endorse Soludo for Second Term, Commend Government Support

The traders of Ogbogwu Market in Onitsha have thrown their weight behind Governor Chukwuma Soludo for a second term, commending the state government’s developmental strides. On October 8, the Special Adviser to the Anambra State Governor on Trade, Chief Evarist Uba, visited the market, joining traders in their monthly prayer meeting and addressing key issues surrounding market leadership and development.

During the visit, Chief Uba clarified that the present caretaker committee of the market remains the only leadership recognized by the Anambra State Government. He emphasized that no market election will occur until after the November 8 Anambra Gubernatorial election, urging traders to remain peaceful and law-abiding. Uba stressed that only those who own shops and conduct genuine business within the market have the right to participate in its leadership affairs, adding, “It is only he who wears the shoe that knows where it pinches.”

Chief Uba also commissioned a newly installed 500KVA transformer, provided by the market’s caretaker committee to boost electricity supply to traders. He lauded this effort as a demonstration of partnership with the government’s developmental agenda, urging traders to continue paying all government-approved revenues to sustain progress in the market sector.

The Mayor of Onitsha South Local Government Area, Hon. Emeka Orji, encouraged traders to align fully with the state government’s directives. He praised Governor Soludo for his numerous achievements within the market and beyond, describing the administration as focused and people-oriented.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ogbogwu Division, SP Richard Nnamdi Ineke, commended the government for its developmental efforts and assured continuous collaboration between the police and market authorities to ensure peace and security in the area.

Responding on behalf of the traders, caretaker committee chairman, Comrade Chukwulota Ndubisi, expressed deep appreciation to Governor Soludo for transforming the market system in Anambra State. On behalf of the entire traders of Ogbogwu Market, he declared total support and endorsement for Soludo’s second term, pledging continued cooperation with the state government. The highlight of the event was the official commissioning of the 500KVA transformer by Chief Uba on behalf of the Governor.

This endorsement underscores the growing support for Soludo’s vision of organized, modern markets across the state, reflecting a strong partnership between the government and market stakeholders.
